EchoPoll: Faculty Introduction

This tool has been licensed for all Rutgers University-Newark and Rutgers Business School courses.

Logging In

Please use the Canvas integration in order to ensure that you receive a paid subscription. It is currently listed as Turning Technologies Registration but this will be updated for the Fall 2024 semester.

If you do not already have this tool enabled in your course menu, please refer to Enabling EchoPoll (Turning Technologies) in your Canvas Course.

If you do not have an EchoPoll account yet, you will be passed to New User Registration.  You will not need to login since you have already logged into Canvas.

Accept the terms and conditions by clicking the box to the left of the "I accept" message and then click the Continue button.

Click Open under the EchoPoll module.  A short video is also available to the right for your reference.  

The My EchoPoll Dashboard will open.  Refer to Linking your Canvas Course if you do not have any courses listed.

Downloading the PowerPoint Add-In or Anywhere Floating Toolbar

The PowerPoint Add-In makes it easy to add engagement to your PowerPoint presentations with polling and assessments.  The Anywhere Floating Toolbar allows you to use any application such as Keynote, Prezi, Excel, video, etc.

If you don't see the screenshot below, click on your initials at the top right and select Application Dashboard.

Click on Downloads from the EchoPoll module.

Select the appropriate operating system: PC or Mac.

Linking your Canvas Course

If you don't see the screenshot below, click on your initials at the top right and select Application Dashboard.

Click the Open link:

From the purple Create button at the top right, select Course.

Click on Import from LMS.  This will sync your roster and grades if needed.

If you are using EchoPoll for general engagement or for use at a conference or workshop, you may simply name your course.

If you haven't previously used PointSolutions in Canvas, you may be prompted to login to Canvas.

All of the courses that you are teaching should be listed.  You can use the Search feature to locate the appropriate course.  Click the Add link to select the course(s) and then click the Import button.  

The Add link toggles to Remove in case you selected the incorrect course.  

You will be brought right into the Course page where you can launch a New Session or check your Roster.

Checking your Roster and Syncing your Course for New Students

If you are not already in your course, you will be on the My EchoPoll Dashboard after logging in.  Scroll down to the Courses section and click on the appropriate link.

Within your course, click on Roster in the menu at the top right.  Students who have activated their EchoPoll account or previously used PointSolutions should be listed in alphabetical order by first name.  If students are missing, click the Sync Roster button.

A search field is available if you need to check on specific students.

If students are not listed, please ask them to click through the Turning Technologies Registration link in the course menu to ensure that they receive a paid subscription.  They will receive an automated email confirming their account creation.  Please note that this email may end up in their junk folder.
